Meet the parents little Fockers (23/12/10)

If you wanna compare between this comedy and Gulliver's Travels, I prefer this. This comedy, like many others, depends if you like the jokes from the actor. In this case, though I'm not a Ben Stiller fan but this would be a better choice. Jokes are mostly intellectual and alittle sexual. Of course, the best part is hearing Ben Stiller saying, "I have eyes too, so I'll be watching you watching me."
In this series, Robert wants Ben to take over as the God Focker. So Ben has to ensure that his kids listens to him and gets into the best school. Jessica Alba plays as a nurse to Ben's clinic and happen to accompany him at his new place alone when he had an argument with Robert. However, Robert decided to apologize to Ben by finding him in that new place. But when he got there, he saw what it seems like Ben making out with Jessica. But in actual fact, Jessica was drunk and wants sex with Ben. Owen Wilson plays a show off role that turns loserish in the end. Impressing Ben's parents at the start, tattooing Ben's wife on his back and getting a party replacement site at his luxurious place in the end finding out that he can never win Ben's wife back to him, who was his formal girlfriend.
My rating: 3.3/5.

Gulliver's Travels (23/12/10)

Useless watching this in 3D honestly. That's just an option to eat your money. 2D is good enough.
Jack Black is a great entertainer. Yet again, if you think its funny, you'll have a great time enjoying his comedy. If you don't think its really funny then its just normal. I mean cold jokes to me. Certain jokes are kind of like expected or erm... ya, that would happen if you do this, so? What so funny? Ya? But if you like Jack Black, then go ahead and watch it. Don't be spoiled by my comments.

Gulliver's Travels is a classic novel, maybe being spoiled by Jack Black here. I don't know if you think so. It has nice plot, very exaggerated, rush and less developed in this movie. Maybe creative to suit Jack's style of comedy. It's slightly less than an hour and a half so you won't feel its draggy at all. It starts with real world scenario, of him as a mail room boy having to impress a manager in the company with his impressive "copy and paste" writing skills. So, he was then being sent out on a trip to explore the Golden Triangle to complete a travelogue. That's when the myth starts.

My rating: 3/5.

Tron Legacy (16/11/10)

This movie is definitely overrated. Marketing for this movie started way back from early 2010 there was even a 15 mins preview trailer for the public to watch. But was it even as good as Avatar, like many of us expected it to me? No way. The plot was entirely fitted for the trons to do their own stuff and what do we audience know what is going on other than what was described in the movie. Certain plot were nonsense. For example, Jeff Bridges, played as the creator of Tron, but he didn't even have the power to take back what he created and at the end, he suddenly stops his clone from getting into the 'wind thing' that would be taking the guy and the girl back to earth. He could have used whatever powers he had earlier. He created tron and he was in the end trapped inside. I believe there were more weird plots, just ask around.

However the graphics were really good. Elaborated luminous colored lights were drawn as the fast objects moved past the screen. But 3D? What for? It wasn't even worth the money at all. Nothing popped out. And at the beginning, there is a statement that says some shots were taken 3D to get the best effect. That would totally make 3D feel wasted paying for it in 3D. So I'm warning everyone to just go for it in 2D. This show should only be watched for the elaborated graphics and sound. The plot is weird. Honestly, this movie buff here slept for like 10 mins in the middle conversational portions. It was really boring in the middle. 3/5.

Rapunzel: A Tangled Tale (25/11/10)

Walt Disney films are typical with their use of songs after songs in the various scenes to express the characters feelings, thoughts alittle more. So if you're into musicals or simply resist to fall asleep when each song comes out, this film should be your choice. In terms of plot, though can be compared to beauty and the beast in some scenes but most of it is different.
The use of the horse character will resemble the behavior of a dog. Horses are not known for their strong sense of smell, but in this movie, the horse, is fantastic in its smelling ability. When it was told to sit or being trained to be tamed, the same method used on the dog, was used on it. So, maybe you can consider that cute. Seems like the behavior of a dog is used in animals reaction in cartoons. This is not really fair because every kind of species has their own kind of reactions or behavior.
Rapunzel who was the only child of the King and queen, was being stolen due to its ability to perform magic on from its hair. The 'witch' like lady who stole it, wanted to keep herself young. So Rapunzel was not allowed to leave the high tower and her hair was prevented from cutting. This selfish desire from the old lady was soon exposed. Watch to find out how Rapunzel was saved and how, Rapunzel, a blonde is a bimbo too.
Watched in 2D. Its fine if you wanna skip this movie. 3/5.

Bruce Lee, My brother (25/11/10)

This movie is based on Bruce Lee's life from age 0-19. It begins with his parents actually say the word 'push' as the name of the kid to the nurse who just delivered him out. 'Push' was probably the only English word the parents knew how to say as they gave birth to him in a US hospital. But the nurse interpret it as 'Bruce', so therefore his name is Bruce Lee. Stupid right? But probably its true that's why they film that.

If you're in for fights and action, you should totally skip this movie, because you'll be kept waiting for about 1 hour plus before the action actually starts. The only two fight scenes which took place in the entire film is about the last 40 mins. Where he fights in a western boxer in a ring and won and again with the same boxer outside of the ring and won again. But in my opinion which the actor himself has admitted, he is no where near Bruce Lee at all.

For the first 1 hour of the movie, was about his growing up as a kid where he already took interest in fighting and only when he turns 17 that he became serious in learning Wing Chun from Ip Man. Most of his teenage life, he just do filming that involves him as a fighter. His actual career only started when he moves back to US at the age of 19. The movie ends there.

What we want to see in this movie is how he mastered the skills of Wing Chun, the amount of time and effort he took to practice and master it and the difficulties he gone through in the training. All these were not shown but rushed through in 10 mins or less. Instead what was shown is him dancing with girls, and him having fun with friends. Maybe the sides that we don't know about him. But is that really important?

Sucks!!! 2/5. Shouldn't even be done.

Chronicles of Narnia: The voyage of the dawn treader (2/12/10)

Nice British movie. 2D would have been enough. If you don't know yet, is from a christian author, so some scenes do relate to christian values. Quite similar to the trailer, three teenagers who are family members stare at a picture and saw themselves in it. Its a picture of a ship in a stormy sea. From there, the fantasy starts, the water from the sea in the picture pours out and fill the entire room. One of the teenager is an unbeliever in the christian terms and only after going through the entire fantasy, he learns how real the adventure can be and how much it had helped him to grow stronger in character. Different scenes in the movie, signifies temptation from the devil, such as food when their hungry and money like gold for wealth to distract them from their cause of journey. Creative plot. After watching it, you'll feel that you've gone through lots of drama, just like the characters in the movie. 4/5.

Kung Fu Wing Chun (18/11/10)

Don't expect much fighting except for the final part of the movie. Its actually a comedy. Basically aims to cover the history and founder of wing chun kung fu. Surprising, but its true that Wing Chun kung fu is named after a lady named Wing Chun, who learned her kung fu from a nun. I guess the rest of the history can read up or seen from this movie. Some jokes are quite funny. The rest are just lame. The fighting part looks quite good. At least better than Bruce Lee, my brother movie. This has to wait till the end. Worth watching but missing it won't be too bad either. I hope there would be another movie on Wing Chun that shows more on how the training was actually done to build up the skills of the learner. Maybe a more serious work and better skilled actors.

3/5.

Hello Stranger (1/12/10)

This is a great movie. If you like thai comedies, this is definitely good. Even those who are not opened to Thai movies or never though Thai movies could be that interesting, you should watch this. Definitely perspective changing. Thai comedies are really creative and expressive.
Lots of effort were put, into the actors, or maybe they're naturally talented.
Its about a guy who were 'sabo' by his friends in leaving him empty handed for his trip to korea. He met a girl to travel around with over there and some how emotions were entangled and they kind of liked each other. But throughout the course of the travel, she found out that he just broke up with his girlfriend of 8 years. He sent a postcard back to his ex-gf from Korea and she came over to find him. In the end, He chose his ex-gf instead of his new squeeze. At the end, you're not sure whether to feel happy or sad, because most of the film were shot how happy the two strangers were with each other as they get to know each other and do different travel activities together. Its comical due to his talents but yet it's very touching with lots of emotions involved in various parts. A must watch. 4.3/5.

Sammy's Adventures: The Secret Passage (2/12/10)

Skip this movie. Its really boring. I slept for a couple of minutes. Almost 1/2 of the movie is about sammy trying to find shelly in the water. And some other turtle friends or sea creatures like the octopus and dolphins come along side to help them find. They are both teenage turtles wanting to be bold to venture out to search for the secret passage in the ocean. They got lost and then separated for many years till one day they found each other back. Though the creatures are cute and the 3D graphic images are good but more like a children's kind of cute instead of adult's kind of cute. The 3D view is really good. You get to see the water, the sea plants flowing right into your eyes. Almost like Resident Evil's 3D view. Not kidding.

The plot of the movie is set to also educate kids about how sea pollution through different human activities like oil polution and waste can bring great difficulty to the sea creatures who are trying to survive in it. The film begins with hatching turtles from their shells, crawling on the sand, making light depressions with their moving fins as they paddle themselves from the sand and into the water. That's quite cute.
2.5/5

Megamind (4/11/10)

Only watched in 2D. I think the 3D is good. Tell me about it. A must watch for kids. In this movie, though megamind stars as the bad guy, he in the end turned out to be the savior of the world. Because, Metro man, voiced by Brad Pitt, decided to retire by throwing his skeleton, acting dead in "megamind's trying to kill metroman's plot". Megamind felt lonely and decided to create a figure to fight with him. His creation somehow turned against him and He in the end saved the world from further destruction. Things get complicated when Tina Fey, didn't know Megamind could transform into many images and Tina actually dated and kissed Megamind, unknowingly. So, the plot is good and Will Ferrel, staring as Megamind, did a great job in his voicing. Very creative. I would agree a 4/5 star from the public. Unexpected twist between good and evil.

The next three days (25/11/10)

The starring actors should be changed to Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. Liam Neeson only made a short conversation in the movie and that's all for his role in the movie. I wish he did more. Its about the police who mistakes Elizabeth as the killer of her boss and she is arrested to be in jail for a lifetime. Russell when to seek consultation from Liam Neeson, who was an ex-jail escapist. He then learn the different matters and brave through the different situations to get a passport for his wife, driving license and an IC for her to escape straight out of the country. Throughout the movie, there were many intense and suspense situations. Though some false suspense, but it does draw the audience attention to what might happen next. Throughout the movie, Russell was planning by observation of daily routine of the happenings in the prison, a route for his wife to escape. It was a great escape in the end and it certainly does give you some idea how to do a better Mas Selamat.

4.2/5. I like this one. Lots of emotions shown. Mixture of feelings of love, suspense, pressure, comfort that might last only awhile and touching. A must watch.

EASY A (25/11/10)

It's a good movie in a different way. Its really, really sarcastic all the way from the start to the end. *(Its about emma stone who started to fake a situation to her best friend and her friend totally believe its true and the friend insist that she tells her everything. Of course it must be something good for gossip, like meeting a new found guy and what they did together. So her best friend dragged her into the toilet where someone heard it and spread the rumor around. This is just the first case. And next come one of emma's gay friend, who wanted emma's help to prove to everyone that he's not exactly gay, but bi. So they faked being a couple at a house party and got into a room. Created loud sexual noises to fake everyone that they are actually doing it. But in fact no.)
Watch to find out how this is actually quite an intellectual movie. This is the kind of movie whereby you at the beginning, you get the feeling its maybe a 1.5 or 2/5 but as the plot runs, wow, your rating of the movie gets higher. But for those who get really bored seeing non-action movie, I suggest you skip this, because it can be boring if you're just looking for the comedy part. Its like those kind of comedy that makes you smile alittle and not laugh. But its about the plot that's based on a "what if" scenario and things gets worst and complicated and at the end, a "maybe I shouldn't have done it" falls back on the actress. 3/5. She's good looking.
If you're wondering why is the title Easy A? A stands for Adulterous. Easy, its like slut. You know? She's easy.

The Social Network (28/10/10)

You have to concentrate when you watch this movie. Right from the start, you'll be thrown into a setting with Mark chats with his girlfriend, Erica, and shows how he is such an asshole in the way he speaks. He speaks so fast right from the start till the end of the movie. He is detailed with his description of what he wants and corrects people. He is ultimately a genius.
Lots of dialogue wavering between him and Eduardo, his friends, enemies, lawyers and judge. This movie takes place in a court setting where it shows how his best friend, Eduardo, the fell out with Mark and Sean, the founder of Napster gets involve with Facebook. It was really a pity for Eduardo to be left out of the company. He quit his intern on the first day to move over with Mark and the company, but however that was already too late. Sean had impressed Mark and took over Eduardo's job. Eduardo had to freeze the money account he invested in the company and that's when Mark, saw that he can have life with Sean instead of Eduardo.
Its a really inspiring movie, especially for all IT professionals and entrepreneurs. And this is the first film that I've seen that comes from on the IT industry. I hope there would be more. Of course since its a movie, lots of stuff are exaggerated and not exactly true.
At the end of the movie, you wouldn't have thought it was the end, I expected more, like how did Mark handle it after the police case Sean had with drugs. It ends of with Mark repeatedly refreshing his facebook after adding Erica, his ex-girlfriend as friend. I'll go with everyone, giving it 4/5. It seems like a 2.5 hours movie squeezed into slightly below 2 hours. No one should miss this movie.

Adele the rise of the mummy (4/11/10)

British film. This film can be compared to films like The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and Mr. Magoriums Wonder Emporium. 3.5/5. I like the plot. *(Its basically about Adele who believes that one of the dead mummy has an incredible knowledge and she needs that knowledge to heal her "dead" friend. Her friend became unconscious after she fell to the floor and hit her head against a pin that pierce through it. So she wanted to bring the mummy back to life with the help of a professor who's soul now lives in a dragon.) Watch it to find out more. Really creative. Suitable for kids. Quite entertaining.

Housemaid (R21) 11/11/10

The movie starts off with a girl committing suicide by jumping off the building. You'll realize why only at the end.

This story is about a Korean family who hired a new young housemaid and found themselves into some trouble having her around. The wife is pregnant with twins but the husband cheated on her by having sex with this new housemaid. The housemaid didn't resist because she wanted a baby in her. So he even seduced him too. It was the other housemaid, who is an old lady that reported to the wife's mum. And that's how the wife found out in the end too. One day when the new housemaid was cleaning the lamp on a ladder, the wife's mother "accidentally" or rather purposely pushed the ladder to allow the new housemaid to have a fall. It was about two stories high fall. She ended up in hospital, hurting her neck and that's how the wife found out she was pregnant from the reports. The wife was worried and decided to kill the baby in the housemaid by poisoning the young housemaid's drink. Successfully the young housemaid had a miscarriage and had to do abortion. Things get complicated because this young housemaid doesn't know that the owners know she is pregnant. When she found out from the older housemaid, she was angry and revengeful. She wanted the baby so much. In the end, she was asked to move out of the home. But she successfully sneaked back in with the help of the older housemaid. She committed suicide in front of the family by hanging herself on the lamp and burning herself up. That was crazy. Overall 3.5/5. Not really a lot of sex scenes but boobs were shown.

Although I expected it to be a slow moving movie, but it was done in a way where any lesser actions involved it would have been a slow scene. Quite artistic.

You again (21/10/10)

Its a straight 4 in my opinion. But just to be fair to the public, I would rate 3.5. The acting and plot is really good. Though less drama required here compared to When in Rome, Kristen Bell was willing to take on a humiliating role of putting on a geeky, loserish look to be humiliated in a high school setting, not only that, got a pot of starchy soup poured on her. Well, not really a problem, since she's paid. But in terms of acting expressions, she did really well. Being able to portray sarcasm, jealousy, suspicious, revengeful and forgiving almost one minute after another is impressive.
*(The movie begins with Kristen filming herself when she was in high school. You'll know later how the video was used in a disastrous way. It begins with a high school setting, showing how everyone carried her out of the school door and locked her outside, to show her that she's not welcome. Other scenes like she approaching an obvious empty seat in a canteen and everyone's just telling her the seat is taken and bumping into her crush and toppling the entire dish on his shirt. Yeah, it makes her look really bad. But all changed as she grew up. She is now the PR of a firm. One day, coming home from work, she realized her brother is marrying her high school bully, the one who lead the others to showed her she is unwelcome and the one who boxed her when she was wearing a mascot and got her to bumped into the basketball player on the court which was her brother and causing him not to score the important decisive goal. I think Americans can really make anyone a real loser if they want to. However, this time when she faced up with her high school bully, she was not intimidated but stood her ground took revenge in her own way.
Kristen found out her bully was in relationship with a guy before and brought him to her bridal shower and he declared his undying love for her in front of everyone. Making it worst, the husband did not know about this before. Kristen exposed the video of her being a bully in school in front of everyone. The two of them got into a cat fight. To make things worst Kristen's mum and her bully's mum were arch enemies too. Watch to see how they patch back in a real comforting and sweet way.)
This movie touches on friendship and life might get back on you if you were a bully before even though how much you've changed. Not everyone might forgive you so easily. But everything would go well if you confess and make up. Real heartwarming.

I give my first love to you (21/10/10)

What a tearjerker. Not exactly a teenage show, though most who watched are teenagers and actors are young. This Japanese film speaks about the sadness in losing someone you love after knowing or being in a relationship with your friend for more than 20 years. *(The item had dated since they were kids. The guy had a weak heart and physical activities are a no for him. Even sex or even just looking at a bra on his girlfriend would be kinda strenuous for his heart too. So the guy felt really lousy and wanted to breakup by going to a really good college, thinking that the girlfriend wouldn't get in there. Surprisingly, she got in there too and she made an angry speak at him declaring her love for her and he tried to dump her by getting into that school, thinking she wouldn't. He tried to hang out with a long time female friend, whom also suffered heart problem and was about the past away. One day at the hospital, she asked if he could kissed her so that she can experience what a kiss is like before she died. He did it. He felt guilty. Because he knew his girlfriend still liked him. But true enough his friend died soon after the kiss. Every girl watching would thought he shouldn't have kissed her, but what do you think? That was her first and final kiss before she died.
A guy tried to chase his girlfriend, but his girlfriend refused to give in to him. One day, her boyfriend challenged this guy into a 100 metres sprint, knowing that he couldn't do it and he would beat him. Surprisingly he won the race even with this heart condition and he had a deal not to touch his girlfriend anymore. That guy, somehow got into an accident by a train and was in hospital. The boyfriend's doctor was his girlfriend's dad, a regular actor in japanese films. The doctor told him that he might get a transplant for him heart soon. However, he found out the heart he was receiving is actually from that guy, whom he had a race with. Because that guy was in a coma and may die. So he and his girlfriend was devastated when they found that out.
He couldn't get the transplant in the end because that guy had signs that he might get up from the coma. His girlfriend when to plead in tears to the parents to give his heart to her boyfriend. That was really moving. Many pour buckets of tears here. Her boyfriend was on life support and might die anytime too. One day, he woke up and he decided, since this might be his last chance, he would go out and have fun with his girlfriend for the entire day. He went to the fun fair and sat roller coaster and do things which he knew he's heart can't take it but still do it since it was his last opportunity. When he went back to hospital, his heart condition came back and he died in the end. She cried, they all cried including the audience.
In the end, she dressed in a wedding gown, and carried his earns to the church and married him that way in her heart. I love that touching scene. Its a movie worth watching over and over again.
Comparable to Aftershock in tear jerking. 4/5. Really sweet movie.

Retired. Experience and very Dangerous (11/11/10)

John Malkovich is hilarious in this film. The funniest part came when he was fired with a bullet and he simply whacks the bullet off like playing baseball. He carries a huge soft toy pig which contains a machine gun. And he seems to have a 6th sense of suspicion which often seems to be right. He was right about the woman who followed him and the letters of the approaching helicopter.
Morgan Freeman doesn't do much in this film, except for some scenes. He was shot dead as a sacrifice for the rest to run off. So his role ended there in the movie.
This movie is basically about Bruce Willis, a retired and former CIA, getting hunted down by the CIA for trying to prove a certain corruption in the government. He was joined by the rest of the group who were also retired CIA in helping him with his mission. There were a few slow motion scenes to exaggerate and create humor, especially when being cornered to a firing battle.

3.3/5. Kinda funny. Retired. Experience and very Dangerous (RED)

Ocean Heaven (5/8/10)

Wow, what an innocent looking Jet Li you see there and you don't really see such movies all the time. So, I guess it was made for a special purpose of just documenting it into a DVD whereby in future if parents of unfortunate kids like this can watch to get inspiration and encouragement to carry on taking care of their kids. So, it was opened in the cinemas for them. So since its already closed from the cinemas, so don't stupidly be tempted by Jet Li's image in the picture and get the DVD. Unless you're in the category which I mention above. Jet Li isn't gona do any fighting for you to see here. I did slept or get bored through some parts here and there. I think the retarded acting isn't really good. Not natural enough. But the role that Jet Li plays, he seems so tolerant as a father except for one occasion where he lost his cool while teaching the son to mop the floor. Since his son really loves to swim with the sea creatures. Before he died he did a smart think to get his son to remember him, by making him follow the giant sea turtle and swim. The giant sea turtle represents Jet Li. Rating: 1.5/5. Booo...

Takers (14/10/10)

Similar to The Town, both has the plot of robbing the bank, but I prefer Takers. Its less serious and really entertaining with some seemingly real stuns. Around of applause to Chris Brown who did an athletic sprint all the way from the train station passed many obstacles with the need to jump, slide, push people, crash windows and hide, total was a good whole 4 to 7 minutes of movie run time of sprinting and chasing. It seems to end at some point in the middle but yet, no, he dodge and went on running, inviting the chase to carry on. That was really impressive. *( The plot impresses the audience right from the beginning where the robbers, all except T.I robbed the bank. One of them, dressed as a security guard, seduced an incoming police helicopter to land on the bank's rooftop and pointed the gun at the exiting police officers from the helicopter. Hijack the helicopter for the escaping robbers to make their escape.)*

T.I who just released from prison make a deal with the Russians. T.I also make business with this group of bank robbers and they all trusted him. Watch it to find out how two fire engines-like-trucks containing money get mistimed in being blown and end up at the bottom of the blown off ground. *(Chinese-like sound effects were used when each of the group members died. All survived except 2. Its the first time I'm seeing such way of expression in the movies. I guess the director is trying to emphasize on how such jobs, though seemed lucrative but rather wasteful in the end. But two of the members were finished off in a quick way in a sense that a simple exposing themselves to gun shot knowing that whatever they're using to fire cannot beat whatever they expect to face. T.I was killed in the end.)

Rating: 4/5.

Due Date (4/11/10)

Again, not entirely my kind of comedy. BUT, I think this movie is quite funny. Zach did a great job in acting the irritating guy while Robert is really nature with his gestures and behaviors. The last time I saw Zach acted was in Dinner for Schmucks. He did it much better here. *(It started off with Zach and Robert, each getting off respectively from their various car at the airport but the weird thing is, Zach's taxi crash into Robert's as he opened the door and the door flew off the car. Haha.. Well, you watch it. Its really funny. So while their driver were discussing matters when they ended up standing side by side each other at the airport pavement. Zach happened to knock down Robert's bag to the road and Robert asked Zach if he could pick it up, Zach replied, We're not allowed to touch other people's belongings at the airport. HAhahaha.. That's smart and funny. So Robert board the plane and took his place while Zach came in later and while trying to put his luggage at the top storage, Zach's fat stomach pressed onto Robert's face such that Robert had to kissed his tummy. Oh.. thats funny too.

Robert happened to use the word terrorist and he was seen talking to Zach in the plane so the officers charged in and demanded both of them to step out of the plane, putting them on the no fly list. Zach had a car and Robert hadn't had his wallet so Zach irritatingly offered his car by getting him to almost open the door when Zach stepped on the accelerator to speed the car off. But that was just kidding. It funny though. Throughout the road trip Zach did and said many irritating stuff which you should watch to find out. Zach acts really weird, like have gay kind, walking his dog every in a way that he thinks its cool. You should see how Robert was furiously irritated with Zach but in the end, they became kinda friends. The journey on the car was about the drive from east to west of USA. And mexico borders did play apart in this movie. Yeah, Zach irritatingly stupid drove into Mexico. HAHaha.. Yes, funny stuns driving came out in trying to escape from the police.

The film also show a background a Grand Canyon. Its has an amazing view. 30 % of the scenes do take place in the car. Rating: 4/5. Good thing about this comedy is that it doesn't really have any draggy parts which Dinner for Schmucks had.

FLOWERS (4/11/10)

Don't watch this film. 1/5. I hardly sleep in movies, but I slept through this and many others did too. Its a woman's show, where the lives of 3 generations of the family are featured. From the younger days of an old lady to the daughter that died after giving birth to the 2nd grand daughter and the lives of the two grand daughters.. Its really slow moving and artistic Japanese movie. Many silent portions, perfect for sleeping especially after a full dinner. However, interestingly there are still some people that life it. Mainly girls or ladies. So, girls please don't force your guys to watch with you. He'll totally curse you for doing that.

If you really do watch, there are some touching scenes at the end. It portrays the general culture of asian fathers, having a stern, unchanging look even when the daughter apologies for running away from an arranged marriage by her parents. But the seemingly heartless father let off his joy to see his daughter return by screaming rejoice to the wedding attendees. The movie moves from one scene to another, not finishing the previous one and coming back again to continue from what happened. It shows the joy of a mother and her child and also the difficulty for a woman to fall in love again at an older age whom already had gone through some tragic experience of the death of her deceased boyfriend.

The town (21/9/10)

3.8/5. Comparing to other similar plot movies, bank job and maybe the other currently showing, Takers. I prefer Takers than this. Though the actions here are more practical and less exaggerated than Takers, both films, Takers and The Town portrays some form of human greed in them. In this movie, the Town, Ben Affleck was selfish in not sacrificing in anyway but simply watch his comrade in crime die with in front of his eyes, while he escape, leaving all the money to the one he stole from and the one that turned out to be his lover, Rebecca Hall. She caught in a bank robber as one of the bank tellers, having gun point pressure to open up the bank's safe for the money. The Town, led by Ben, had very intellectual planned robbing methods, like switching cars and stun driving on the roads of Boston. The plot was intellectual too, like many complicated stories that lead to arguments on screen or new people joining the crime group, like the florist appeared out of the blue to engineer a fantastic plan of entering into the money chamber in the horse racing organization. Ben Affleck is such a thinker in most of his films whether he directs it or not. However there are quite a number of slow scenes which focuses on him and make his acting look weird or puzzling why is this his only expression? Most of it occured in the initial stage of the movie. The peak of intense feeling from audience might not come from the car stuns on the road but the communication between his friend, ben and Rebecca at the table. Ben, prevents Rebecca from seeing the tattoo on his comrade's neck at last.

71: Into the Fire (21/10/10)

Great film. A korean blockbuster. 4/5 star. Based on a true story, this show is quite good in terms of showing the emotions of the students from the day they were enlisted till the day the fight till their death for their country, South Korea. Really touching expressions and scenes that will definitely make girls cry. Scenes like waving goodbye to till families while embarking on the lorry to go into war without any experience. This film focuses on the 71 students that were forced into the war between North and South Korea due to the lack of enforces in the South Korea army. Even though students, but, they understood the meaning of how important South Korea need to win this war. They weren't sissy but forced themselves to be courageous to pick up a rifle, throw a grenade, use a knife to fight. Crying in the middle of the night and getting love sick of their interest over instruments, show the difficulty of being called into the war with entirely no experience. Training was done on the spot once enlisted.

So can anyone answer, after watching, why did the South Korean students continued to bomb the North Korean approaching commander when he actually returned a captured South Korean soldier? I guess the North Korean commander returned him was because he needed their help to use that area as a base for advance operation and movement therefore he smartly disguise his decision to return the South Korean student as he was just being a student and thought that the South Korean students can easily be fooled by simple gesture of allying. The main actor did well at the end but the initial, he portrays a coward which is really irritating because he looks like a loser with his actions. Many tensions between the officer of the students and one of the seemingly outstanding and experienced student with fighting. Tensions however were used in the right way in the end that brought good results for the South Koreans. However help came too late and the entire 71 students were wiped out including the officer. Really touching scenes there. Comments from others saying that some actions were too exaggerated. Well, yeah it is, like charging forward with a knife right up to the tank driver to kill him so that the North Korean tank will cease shooting. But its just a movie so.

A tip for watching this film is to not seat right behind but somewhere in the middle because the english sub titles are in white which totally camouflage most of the time with the images in the movie. Having to understand korean would be a great advantage.

The other guys (30/9/10)

This may seem false, but i'm serious, I almost slept for a couple of seconds. Maybe I was tired. Anyway, this is again not my kind of comedy. Only few scenes may me laugh alittle. It started with two heroic police officers that caught the robbery criminal but splashed a 12 million dollar damage, which includes ramming the car into a double decker and other stuns. But how heroic can they be when they chased a criminal up to the top of the building and when the criminal had planned ropes to slide to the next and snap it off to prevent them from chasing, they said to themselves let's aim at the bush and they jumped to their death. So is that funny? To me its not.

So Will Ferrel plays an irritating/weird/coward police officer that likes to sit behind the desk and not move out to respond to calls of emergency. But he has a hot wife and he attracts hot chicks around. Mark is really jealous with that.

Just a short comparison, I think Steve carell plays an idiot better than Will Ferrel.

Rating: 3/5. Will continue with the review another time.

Legend of The Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (23/9/10)

The ending was hasty, the "get up and fight" style was repeating the IP2's style and the one on one fight was short. So when you watch it and you see Donnie fighting against groups or tons of people, that's the part you have to enjoy it, because the one on one fight, which I thought was supposed to be the best part was brief. By using the phrase "get up and fight", I meant the sudden motivation that the fighter receives or dream about within seconds when he is knocked out the first time, to give him the strength stronger than when he had full focus. If you have watched IP2, you would be familiar that when Donnie fights a one on one, he is expected to win, because this is just a movie. But in order for him to win victoriously, he has to go through some difficulty in the first stage of fighting before he gets up and fight again from his instant, seemingly divine motivation. So obviously that happen. I think directors that get him to do fighting films again should try to be more creative in this area.

However, what I write here, should not discourage you from watching the film, but its definitely worth a visit. Its a based on a true story of how he rescued his other chinese men from france back to China. And divinely ran into a series of firing shots at him being untouched, armed with only 3 knifes, when in to kill the shooters. Something interesting that repeated from IP man2, the head police was in charge of the chinese men, getting them to do the job and he called the chinese men "CHINKS". And later in the film, the chinese men fought back with his flowery words. This once again show the racism between Caucasians and Chinese which are real today.

Shuqi plays a supporting lead in this film. She acts as a singer, and Donnie's girlfriend and a traitor to the Chinese, working for the Japanese. She was killed in the end. 3.2/5.

Look who's at the piano.

The American (14/10/10) review

This film is perfect for both guys and girls to watch it together. Why, because girls will obviously be charmed by George Clooney and guys will simply enjoy the sexual scenes where the girl get to bare her breasts for the camera a couple of times. But just to warn you, this show is really slow moving right from the start to the end. And, not only its slow moving, there're even silent scenes, where George just do his own thing, like fix his gun or drive his car and as simple as that, I don't know why reviews, especially if its from a female writer would rate this film highly. Its totally opposite from what you expect when you watch it. So, seriously, the reviews are bluffing you by giving 3 or 3.5 or some can even give 4. OMG!! That's a way liar.

I'm sure you can't believe its a slow moving show because it involves crime investigation and gun firing. But it is. Something interesting that I can remember is when George likes a prostitute and he would bring her to the pond for a date, or rather picnic. The funny thing is, when she saw the pond, she just strip naked and get into the pool, calling him to join her. Anyway, george died in the end due to a gun shot on his abdomen. Another interesting scene to watch is when george was followed down a stairs alley and he quickly hid behind a pillar when he had the chance, took off his shoes and let his follower past him first before he gave chase at the follower. The setting takes place in Italy. And you can skip this film unless you're in for the girls.

Life as we know it review (14/10/10)

I think Katherine Heigl did quite a good job in this movie. She totally fits into the character of a working mum, not just any ordinary working mum but a mum who runs a business; in this case, a food business. Josh Duhamel is more of just being there to look good "father". So obviously you've read from else where that they started of as enemies. They were friends of the baby's parents. So their friends wanted to setup a date for them one day and Josh weren't so into it. When Katherine was dressed beautifully in a long red dress and Josh rode his bike over and wanted her to get on the bike. She told him she wasn't dress for taking bikes and decided to use her car instead. Her car was pathetic, like a cherry QQ and when she found out Josh didn't book a restaurant or a place. And in the car, he received a call. Josh said its fine and told Katherine to carry on, but Katherine was so distracted by the ring tone that she couldn't carry on. This part is quite funny. And when Josh picked up, he was talking to the other girls that often hang out with him. Katherine was kinda turned off by that and decided to call off the date.

So when their friends past away, they were shocked to learn from the lawyer that it was written in the will to pass their baby to the hands of Katherine and Josh to parent. Obviously they were shock. These parts are quite funny. They did good expressions.

So the rest of the movie was about how they made schedules to take care of the baby and Josh went about his girls thingy and she went about going dates with a guy she liked. But when they had to take care of the baby together, Josh simply keep trying to run away from the job, like making her change the diapers and not letting her know that there's shit on her face while she went to meet the house guest. Katherine get back on him by using his cap for the baby to shit. They had a good big argument when Katherine decided to sell the house and Josh wasn't told about it. Because Josh and Katherine were given this house by their deceased friends. Josh wasn't told because he was so upset that he went away for awhile. He was offered a job else where which he couldn't resist, a high profile job. Somehow, Katherine and Josh decided to take responsibility over the baby again and Josh decided not to take the job offer.

3.5/5. More for pregnant ladies, or ladies with infant or parents who just wanna reminiscence the good old baby rising days. The movie might be alittle lengthy due to the dating scenes between Josh and Katherine and Katherine and the other guy she likes. Not my kind of comedy. But I think the acting and chemistry between them is really good. In comparison to the other currently showing comedies like Dinner for Schmucks and The Other guy. In my opinion, Dinner for Schmucks tops the other two.

Nowhere boy (22/9/10)

Sorry, but you can also skip this film. Haha.. But you don't have to depend on my reviews, really.
I would rate 2/5. Its not that its bad, or lousy or not worth watching. But I think there could be more creativity to bring out alittle more detail on how else John Lennon felt about being a nowhere boy. Its a british film.

Just a brief intro, this film, is basically about John Lennon, who is a nowhere boy because he has been living with his aunt who is his guardian since young. But his mum, who lives not far away has now married to someone else and has a family already. But his mum still loves him alot and she was the one who taught him how to play the guitar. His mum would express her to him almost like her lover, leaving the kisses out that's all. When he argued with his aunt over school problems issue, he would run to his mum's place and request to stay for a night or two. However, his mum's husband wasn't too happy with this. Both his aunt and mum supported him in his music interest like attended his performance with his band. His band was form by his group of friends whom each could play an instrument. The touching part happens almost towards the end where his aunt and mum met and reveal to him how he was brought up by his aunt and not by his own parents. That part was really nice.

The Switch (30/9/10)

You can give this film a miss if you want. Really. Its like a 'not necessary I need to watch' kind of film? Yeah.. So rating if you must, is 3/5. Jennifer Aniston's recent film have all been quite normal. Maybe because producers think that she's hot, or she the number most eligible female in the world, so if she my cast, I don't need to demand alot from her and let her do her thing. Well, I don't know, that's what I get from her films she stars in. For example, the other recent one is Love Happens and Management. Yes, she's natural with her acting and she's good. But its always the same kind of just normal movies that she gets to be in. I wish she would break out into blockbusters or do some action, like fighting, have we seen her fight? That's what I mean.

Alright, about the movie, just put it straight, its about switching cum. Yes. I said it. Its the pool of ejaculated sperm that a guy produces after he masturbates. Patrick Wilson, who acts as the donor of sperm to Jennifer, to let her have a kid, unfortunately had it switched by her best friend, Jason Bateman, to his own sperm. And he did that unconsciously, because he was drunk after a party. He didn't realize it till many years later when Jennifer moves back to New york and get her son to meet Jason and they realized how similar they are and how much they could click. When Jason recalled and try to admit to Jennifer about what he did, Jennifer thought he wanted to tell her that he loves her and when he said no, that's not what I wanted to say, she got so freaked out and embarrass and decided not to talk. If all American girls are like that, how on earth can anyone talk to you girls. Seriously, American girls, don't be so weird by reacting like that. Jennifer wanted to try and start and relationship with the father of her kid and see if it would work out. Jason had no choice but to break the news about the switch at Patrick's proposal day to Jennifer. How awesome that blew was. Seriously. It was weird, but funny and touching. That's what mix feelings are about. In the end, Jennifer got back together with Jason, because she misses him so much.

Wall Street: Money never sleeps (23/9/10)

Would be better if you're from the finance or banking industry to watch this film. I'm writing this from a point of view where I know nuts about brokering or investment. So what, if there was a previous sequel? I'm not gona compare with the previous one. Michael Douglas is selected as a cast, mainly to just look good and a stereotype of an experience and wealthy man with full of insight in investments. Making comparison to a movie of a similar interest, Capitalism, a love story, which I watched last year, gave me a better understanding of the industry that better than this. This film, Wall street, by foxmovies, of course, would and have to produce a higher standard film that covers all aspects of emotions. From the title, you wouldn't expect love scenes, or father-daughter relationship problems, but those are the parts that brings the viewer closer to the movie in practical terms. Capitalism had more content but Wall street is rather balance.

Watch to see how Michael Douglas, cheated his daughter and her boyfriend of 10 million dollars. He seems really trustworthy, insightful from the start but that was not his motive. Once he got the money, he disappeared and set up his own company to be back in Wall street investments. You'll see a really old man, whom I wonder if he knows what he's talking, is actually giving the advice over decision making issues and he will be remembered for his bird-like whistling, especially towards the end.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone who know nuts about investment, banking or brokerage. 2.5/5 rating in my opinion. Not that its lousy, but it's boring. On the other hand, its rather intellectual.

If anyone doesn't know it yet, Michael Douglas is now battling critical stage cancer. I wish him speedy recovery. Would love him back in future films. Have anyone thought about doing such banking/finance films that includes things like man having affair with another lady to get her money or promotion or higher investment payback. I mean these are practical in the real world so why not spill it out. Maybe an R21 wall street film in future.

Reign of Assassins (7/10/10) review

Typical chinese movie plot. Lots of mystery, history and reasoning to be unfold in this film. About Michelle Yeoh's fighting, she's not bad. Pretty good for a lady, in terms of sword fighting. However she's not the only want that impresses. The five characters that you see in this poster, are impressive in their own ways. And personally, I think Shawn Yue's fighting which only lasted for a really short while is the most impressive. He acts as a blur loser simply trying to chase Michelle Yeoh as his wife but he knows all about who Michelle Yeoh is fighting with or being hunted by. He is aware of everything. Let's talk straight about the rating: 3/5. Why: It's alittle draggy over certain parts, especially the complicated history in the beginning and this film, lack just by alittle in the emotional aspect. If you're into chinese films, this and detective dee are both worth a visit. If you have to choose either detective dee or this, I would prefer detective dee. Andy Lau's charm do really impress in that film.

One scene might shock you: Michelle yeoh, stabbing into her lover's chest, Shawn Yue, with a sword right through. But according to the storyline, it was for their own good. His heart is on the right, she stabbed on the left to make him look like his dead before he got attacked by anyone.

One scene might interest you: Barbie Hsu, stripping for the camera to display her back and another scene clothe in a seductive way, lying on the bed to attract Shawn Yue. But Shawn Yue was smart, he took away all her clothes and announced to the village that there is a crazy woman in his room.

The girl who played with fire (16/9/10) review

I like the movie, but I wouldn't recommended it.. If you're hoping for the same standard as the previous sequel, then I'm sorry its not. My rating is 3/5 But If you wanna know she she still shows her boobs, the answer is yes and u get to see 2 pairs of them. Because don't forget, she is a bi, and this time is making out with a lady.

This squeal is slightly less intimidating than The girl with a dragon tattoo and Naomi rapace has slightly has work to do that Blomquist her helper in the last squeal. Blomquist this time has form a team of private investigation to work on criminal activities. Remember the last squeal where Naomi burned the father? The truth is the father is still not dead yet. He survived the burn but got his face disfigured and had plastic surgery done. Now is living with his son (half brother of Naomi), who is a strong tall man with a slight disability to his nervous system that he is not able to sense physical hit from people. Naomi does not know that she has this brother. The father is now out to hunt back for Naomi and kill her for revenge. By the way Naomi burned her dad in the past was because, she couldn't take the abuse that her dad did to her mum. So he used his son to hunt for her and in the process killing some of the people around her, like her rapist (guardian), from the previous squeal, to get her attention. He is the guy named Zala that Blomquist and his group of investigators soon found out.

Blomquist got his friend, a boxer to try and get information from Naomi's friend whom is living now living in Naomi's apartment. While on the visit, he saw Naomi's friend being carried away into a car by the strong man and decided to give chase. He followed, the strong man in a car to a warehouse and heard the man, beating Naomi's friend to get an answer where Naomi is. He rushed in to fight with the strong man but unfortunately lost. The strong man then decided to burn the warehouse down. The two victims who were still left in the warehouse fortunately escape by the back door. That was really lucky. It didn't seem like what it is then. Looks like a nice magic trick. So, they while they were in hospital, Naomi visited her friend to apologize. She unfortunately dropped her house keys and Blomquist who went to the hospital the next day, found it. He went to her apartment while Naomi was on the way to find her dad and kill him. Naomi was shocked but trusted him and remove the alarm. She has a connection to her phone when anyone trys to break in to her house. So, he saw the recording of how she was tortured in a rape by her guardian. SO of course he was sadden and decided to help her out He found out the place where Zala stays and decided to head there too.

When Naomi got to her dad's apartment, she was knocked out by the strong man, but of course her dad ordered not to be killed immediately and wanted to have a chat with her first to 'catch up'. In the end, a fight broke up and she was shot while trying to get away. At this point, you may think that its over for her. To make things worst, she was buried alive. But she was not buried properly and she was obviously not shot dead yet, so she climbed out of the soil and give her father a whack on the head a few times to kill him. When Blomquist arrived, he simply call the cops and ambulance here.

Dinner for Schmucks (7/10/10)

Its my first time watching these two on movies and have never watched whatever french sequel there was. And dinner? Erm, I don't see them eating, I don't even see where's the food. Dinning setting, only 20minutes? Though lots of effort were put into making it funny. But its alittle draggy. And it could be funnier. My rating sticks at 3/5. Not my kind of comedy.

The prettiest part about this film is the intro. You'll get to see many small mice models. These models represent the love life between Steve Carell and his ex-wife. They are so cute. Steve plays an idiot in this film. He was knocked down by a car that Paul Rudd was driving. And yet, he didn't even complained. He thought he had to even pay money to settle it, when Paul Rudd was trying to mean that its him that needs to pay to settle knocking him. That was quite funny. Because of that Paul, decided to invite Steve over to his place. And at his place, Steve, fooled with Paul's conversation on the computer. He actually replied a message, giving Paul's address, that was from a girl that had been stalking Paul all these years. A picture of her butt was sent over and he kept it. So when Paul found out about it, Steve told him that he would mend it by chasing the girl away. Unknowingly, Steve's wife appear and he thought that the wife was that girl and he chased the wife away.

When Steve found out that she was his wife, the girl appeared at the door. Paul was so afraid that he hid in his room while steve distracted her and made her throw glasses of wine and breaking everything. It was her way of being naughty in trying to get Paul out of the room. Paul had an important meeting the next day and his wife had to come. But his wife was so angry that she left him and so Steve brought the stalker lady to Paul's meeting. Paul was 'forced' to proposed to the lady and then the wife arrived at the scene. It was a big disaster. Its difficult to describe it here but you got to watch it to see it yourself. The stalker lady even wracked up Paul's car. Dinner for Schmucks is an event whereby all the losers in life, like steve would be invited to show off their stupidity and be laughed at. So the company which Paul works at has colleges bringing other weird people, like someone who thinks he can control people and some how, steve stupidly thinks he is being controlled. Paul felt bad told Steve the truth that he was being invited over to be an idiot, so Steve took is revenge back. Watch and see how it goes. It was quite funny, but childish at the same time.

At the end, Steve managed to rescue Paul's relationship with his girlfriend. Worth watching!!

Detective Dee (30/9/10)

My review is based on an English speaking point of view, where Chinese is a total foreign language to me and I have to read every single subtitle.

It's a movie based on one of china's history. It begins with one of the officials in the building who was suddenly burned into flames from the inside of his body into ashes within minutes. So, investigation began and the head of the buddha construction, played by Tony Leung, was suspected and of course in the end, he was the culprit. Li Bing Bing, was sent by Carina Lau to spy on Andy Lau. It was like a fight at first and it turn into love scenes. Weird? Yeah. Li Bing Bing had to remove her top to show her back for the camera. It was targeted to complete in one day but they took 4 for that particular filming shot. The storyline was so complicated that I think its better for you to watch than I describe it here.

Overall its quite a good film. But can anyone tell me if the Buddha statue was real? I doubt so right? My rating is 3.5/5.
