Diary of whimpy kid: rodrick rules
The Eagle (31/3/11)
This film though seems like it possess one of those hard core historic image, however you don't have to read the history throughout the story. It's basically all about a captain in the roman army, who brave himself against all odds, all mindsets and physical challenges to get back the eagle statue that is extremely significant to these roman soldiers. It was lost during a battle to one of their enemies. The weird thing is, it's supposed to be roman soldiers, but the actors speak American English. The beginning part was alittle draggy. It was difficult to understand how and why was a servant picked to live by the captain to serve him on this journey but his abilities began to unfold in the later part. Because of the little understanding between the captain and his servant, probably the lack of time to bond, the servant has to execute some of this smart moves ahead of the captain's approval or knowledge, to the point where the roles were reverse. The captain became the servant. It seems like a betrayal but that was necessary. Watch to find out the exciting journey and tense moments as each scene towards the end seems like a dead end to their solution. Touching ending. 3.5/5

Carmen 3D (31/3/11)
Movie for classical lovers, musicians and ballet interest people. Reviewing from a perspective of music lover. Its a great experience to watch it upclose. You could see the actual emotions displayed on their faces. One cannot enjoy the fantastic acoustic of a concert hall in comparison to watching it as a movie. To my surprise, there's intermission. Well, of course there is. But this is a movie. So having an intermission during a movie is weird. Of course many who didn't expect it to be in such classical, operatic, ballet movements would have left by then. It's really long in duration and can be very draggy. Carmen and her lovers keep forming many love triangles. One moment you thought she will settle down with this lover, the next moment is another man. This is my first witness for Carmen Bizet. The movie begins with the famous theme played by the orchestra. 3/5.
Morning glory (24/3/11)
Its all about being passionate about your work and changing the impression of people as a newbie in a management position. So applicable for university students and above. Watched only 1/2 of the show but its entertaining seeing Rachael Mcadams being so anxious to get things done, being put in tight spots to resolve issues and bring two really proud old people together. Not a must watch movie. Watch only when you have spare time and cash. 3/5.
Rango (10/3/11)
This is an intelligent movie. I thought it would be a movie for kids. But no. Lots of in between the lines to understand what's going on. Johnny Depp takes on this role of a desert lizard who lives alone with his toy fish and naked top lady mannequin. So he begins talking about what is life to him and trying to find what future paints for him. He meets with predators like birds who tries to eat him and a friend to told him that he needs to get to the other side of the road in order to find water. So on his quest to hunt for water, he met with a girl who could pause all of a sudden while in the midst of her speech. There was once she faked it to find out his response. So they ended up in a land full of desert animals who are eagerly waiting for the day that water would pour down from the sky. Johnny the lizard make the people of the believe that he was a hero. Half way through the town realized he wasn't and he had to leave. Watch to find out what happened. Certain scenes are weird. Unexpected. 3.5/5.

Perfect rivials (17/3/11)
You should totally skip this show. What are you doing, Irene Ang? Its your debut movie, you get your cast to tour round Singapore's shopping mall to promote your show. But it sucks. Total waste of time. Maybe humorous for some people with bad sense of humor. But generally I would roll my eye balls a thousand times. The only reason you should watch is for Mindee Ong. Her acting her is really cute and different. She puts on a total guy impersonation. Irene Ang, simply stands around, act like a boss, act important and say few lines here and there. She should get back to her Phua Chu Kang's wife role that suits her best. The jokes are so lame that I really want forget about it. It gives me such thrill down my spine to appreciate this as something local. 1/5.
How do you know (3/3/11)
This show is quite boring. Not a must watch at all. Ladies would appreciate this show better. But guys can learn from Owen Wilson's mistake in his relationship. Its about Reese being in a dilemma whether to get involve with a guy who seems weird but gentlemanly or continue with the one she currently has who is rich but self-centered. This rich guy, played by Owen Wilson, can be a typical behavior for many guys who think that their relationship is stable in enough and there for I can impose what I want on my partner and my partner must follow me. So in order to keep Reese happy, he can provide for her many gifts that many would gawk at. However in contrary, she isn't happy. They often get into fights because of what he wants to do and where he wants to go; instead of doing what both would compromise to do as an item. I guess in US. items move in together to live with one another is a way for them to see if they can survive together long-term in a relationship. So when Reese walked out of Owen, she met Paul Rudd the weird guy who made kind of a bad impression on her over their first conversation over the phone. Paul often seem like a failure in his purse for her as Reese though unhappy was still committed to her relationship with Owen. However he still made a meaningful impression on her as the gifts he gives, though stupid, had sentimental value. He was her listening ear. So Reese chose Paul in the end. If you're a fan of the starring celebrities you should go for it. Main theme of the movie revolves around romance with very little humor. 2/5.
Never let me go (24/2/11)
I watch this because I like Andrew Garfield. This is a sad British film. The kids were brought up in a school whereby when they reach adulthood, they would have to donate their organs 3 times even before death. Most of the them die by the 3rd donation. So it can be quite moving towards the end. It elaborates from young teenage life of the kids and show how some of the got together as couples and the jealousy over the other. Some believed that by showing as a couple that they have true love for each other, might be able to extend their "lifespan"The plot was different from usual. Not really predictable. Watch for the curiosity over the plot or maybe for the acting ability. This movie films the lives of 3 kids. 2 girls and a guy in a love triangle. One of them ended up as couple while the other looks on jealously, trying hard to stay strong and never giving her love to anyone else. Watch to find out the complicated tangle in this love affair. Andrew regretted not contributing his art work seriously during his younger days which might give him a chance to redeem himself from this 'death sentence'. So the movie films him going to his former teacher's home at the age when he is in his early twenty's to try and ask for a redemption. However it was revealed to him that there is no redemption once he is in this scheme. Sad ending. 3.5/5

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (10/3/11) review coming soon
Writing from a point of view as a virgin to the big momma's movie. I think this film is really funny. Its the way they act and talk and express it. I like the part where the father tells his son your name will be now known as 'Charmaine Daisy Pears'. The son, played by Brandon can rap and sing. He's good. There was a duet featured for a few moments. Brandon acted both the big momma's son and a rapper that dates this girl from school. He cant control his excitement as he enters a girl's school and live in a girls dorm. He is dressed in a girl's suit and has to speak and think the way a girl should. He gave himself during the performance on stage with the girl doing a duet. But the further truth was revealed when it was realised that big momma's undercover as ladies were to investigate the stolen information that would expose some crime. Watch it and have a good laugh. 4/5

Gnomeo and Juliet (3/3/11)
This is quite a short British animated film. 3D for this film should definitely not be considered a choice at all. The effect was not really popping out at you even if you watch it at one of the biggest screen in Asia. Well suited for children and teenage girls. The character play were very cute and adorable. It plots about Gnomeo, belonging to the blue territory and Juliet, belonging to the red territory fell in love with each other at first sight. This is impossible in their world, however it happened. The characters resemble Toy story, as everyone went into still position the moment a human being arrived. Blues and Reds were something like portrayed similar to the differentiation of the human race via skin colour. Gnomeo, however fought through many odds against him and saved Juliet in the end. Throughout the cause, Gnomeo was even perceived as dead after being crushed by an on coming truck into glass pieces. This film is definitely recommended for its cuteness.
Cuteness level: 4/5. Overall rating: 3.5/5
