Before I watch this movie, I received two very different views. Many like it and yet many hate it. Why?
Firstly, find out the main lead before you watch. In this case is Andy lau, not Jacky Chan. So many who watch because there were seeking to see some moves from Jackie Chan were utterly disappointed. Its so obvious on the bloody poster that Andy Lau takes a bigger portion of the image. And how on earth can Jackie Chan fans get disappointed that there were not much action from him. Thats so stupid.
Secondly, if you're watching just to look at kung fu fighting, then this is not the film for you. Go and re-watch IP man over and over again. You'll be soon get arrested for testing it out in public.
Nicholas Tse plays the bad guy in this movie and Jackie Chan plays the comical chef.
Andy Lau, from Hong Kong, was forced to display the typical olden days China man's behavior which may still be active today. The way he eats his noodles, look at it. Its like there's no need to chew on your food. Direct it straight down your oesophagus while is hot. The ridiculously selfish attitude. Killing someone and the next moment expect his daughter to get healed when facing death. But life turned over for him when he decided to humble and become a monk. In the end portraying an extremely self-less series of actions that protected Nicholas tse from dying. Nicholas betrayed Andy in the beginning and thats where the differences started.
Its a definite must watch blockbuster. 4/5. Some parts were a little draggy. There was no need for Andy to perform kung fu with the young kid. Very touching ending.
