Ocean Heaven (5/8/10)

Wow, what an innocent looking Jet Li you see there and you don't really see such movies all the time. So, I guess it was made for a special purpose of just documenting it into a DVD whereby in future if parents of unfortunate kids like this can watch to get inspiration and encouragement to carry on taking care of their kids. So, it was opened in the cinemas for them. So since its already closed from the cinemas, so don't stupidly be tempted by Jet Li's image in the picture and get the DVD. Unless you're in the category which I mention above. Jet Li isn't gona do any fighting for you to see here. I did slept or get bored through some parts here and there. I think the retarded acting isn't really good. Not natural enough. But the role that Jet Li plays, he seems so tolerant as a father except for one occasion where he lost his cool while teaching the son to mop the floor. Since his son really loves to swim with the sea creatures. Before he died he did a smart think to get his son to remember him, by making him follow the giant sea turtle and swim. The giant sea turtle represents Jet Li. Rating: 1.5/5. Booo...

Takers (14/10/10)

Similar to The Town, both has the plot of robbing the bank, but I prefer Takers. Its less serious and really entertaining with some seemingly real stuns. Around of applause to Chris Brown who did an athletic sprint all the way from the train station passed many obstacles with the need to jump, slide, push people, crash windows and hide, total was a good whole 4 to 7 minutes of movie run time of sprinting and chasing. It seems to end at some point in the middle but yet, no, he dodge and went on running, inviting the chase to carry on. That was really impressive. *( The plot impresses the audience right from the beginning where the robbers, all except T.I robbed the bank. One of them, dressed as a security guard, seduced an incoming police helicopter to land on the bank's rooftop and pointed the gun at the exiting police officers from the helicopter. Hijack the helicopter for the escaping robbers to make their escape.)*

T.I who just released from prison make a deal with the Russians. T.I also make business with this group of bank robbers and they all trusted him. Watch it to find out how two fire engines-like-trucks containing money get mistimed in being blown and end up at the bottom of the blown off ground. *(Chinese-like sound effects were used when each of the group members died. All survived except 2. Its the first time I'm seeing such way of expression in the movies. I guess the director is trying to emphasize on how such jobs, though seemed lucrative but rather wasteful in the end. But two of the members were finished off in a quick way in a sense that a simple exposing themselves to gun shot knowing that whatever they're using to fire cannot beat whatever they expect to face. T.I was killed in the end.)

Rating: 4/5.

Due Date (4/11/10)

Again, not entirely my kind of comedy. BUT, I think this movie is quite funny. Zach did a great job in acting the irritating guy while Robert is really nature with his gestures and behaviors. The last time I saw Zach acted was in Dinner for Schmucks. He did it much better here. *(It started off with Zach and Robert, each getting off respectively from their various car at the airport but the weird thing is, Zach's taxi crash into Robert's as he opened the door and the door flew off the car. Haha.. Well, you watch it. Its really funny. So while their driver were discussing matters when they ended up standing side by side each other at the airport pavement. Zach happened to knock down Robert's bag to the road and Robert asked Zach if he could pick it up, Zach replied, We're not allowed to touch other people's belongings at the airport. HAhahaha.. That's smart and funny. So Robert board the plane and took his place while Zach came in later and while trying to put his luggage at the top storage, Zach's fat stomach pressed onto Robert's face such that Robert had to kissed his tummy. Oh.. thats funny too.

Robert happened to use the word terrorist and he was seen talking to Zach in the plane so the officers charged in and demanded both of them to step out of the plane, putting them on the no fly list. Zach had a car and Robert hadn't had his wallet so Zach irritatingly offered his car by getting him to almost open the door when Zach stepped on the accelerator to speed the car off. But that was just kidding. It funny though. Throughout the road trip Zach did and said many irritating stuff which you should watch to find out. Zach acts really weird, like have gay kind, walking his dog every in a way that he thinks its cool. You should see how Robert was furiously irritated with Zach but in the end, they became kinda friends. The journey on the car was about the drive from east to west of USA. And mexico borders did play apart in this movie. Yeah, Zach irritatingly stupid drove into Mexico. HAHaha.. Yes, funny stuns driving came out in trying to escape from the police.

The film also show a background a Grand Canyon. Its has an amazing view. 30 % of the scenes do take place in the car. Rating: 4/5. Good thing about this comedy is that it doesn't really have any draggy parts which Dinner for Schmucks had.

FLOWERS (4/11/10)

Don't watch this film. 1/5. I hardly sleep in movies, but I slept through this and many others did too. Its a woman's show, where the lives of 3 generations of the family are featured. From the younger days of an old lady to the daughter that died after giving birth to the 2nd grand daughter and the lives of the two grand daughters.. Its really slow moving and artistic Japanese movie. Many silent portions, perfect for sleeping especially after a full dinner. However, interestingly there are still some people that life it. Mainly girls or ladies. So, girls please don't force your guys to watch with you. He'll totally curse you for doing that.

If you really do watch, there are some touching scenes at the end. It portrays the general culture of asian fathers, having a stern, unchanging look even when the daughter apologies for running away from an arranged marriage by her parents. But the seemingly heartless father let off his joy to see his daughter return by screaming rejoice to the wedding attendees. The movie moves from one scene to another, not finishing the previous one and coming back again to continue from what happened. It shows the joy of a mother and her child and also the difficulty for a woman to fall in love again at an older age whom already had gone through some tragic experience of the death of her deceased boyfriend.

The town (21/9/10)

3.8/5. Comparing to other similar plot movies, bank job and maybe the other currently showing, Takers. I prefer Takers than this. Though the actions here are more practical and less exaggerated than Takers, both films, Takers and The Town portrays some form of human greed in them. In this movie, the Town, Ben Affleck was selfish in not sacrificing in anyway but simply watch his comrade in crime die with in front of his eyes, while he escape, leaving all the money to the one he stole from and the one that turned out to be his lover, Rebecca Hall. She caught in a bank robber as one of the bank tellers, having gun point pressure to open up the bank's safe for the money. The Town, led by Ben, had very intellectual planned robbing methods, like switching cars and stun driving on the roads of Boston. The plot was intellectual too, like many complicated stories that lead to arguments on screen or new people joining the crime group, like the florist appeared out of the blue to engineer a fantastic plan of entering into the money chamber in the horse racing organization. Ben Affleck is such a thinker in most of his films whether he directs it or not. However there are quite a number of slow scenes which focuses on him and make his acting look weird or puzzling why is this his only expression? Most of it occured in the initial stage of the movie. The peak of intense feeling from audience might not come from the car stuns on the road but the communication between his friend, ben and Rebecca at the table. Ben, prevents Rebecca from seeing the tattoo on his comrade's neck at last.

71: Into the Fire (21/10/10)

Great film. A korean blockbuster. 4/5 star. Based on a true story, this show is quite good in terms of showing the emotions of the students from the day they were enlisted till the day the fight till their death for their country, South Korea. Really touching expressions and scenes that will definitely make girls cry. Scenes like waving goodbye to till families while embarking on the lorry to go into war without any experience. This film focuses on the 71 students that were forced into the war between North and South Korea due to the lack of enforces in the South Korea army. Even though students, but, they understood the meaning of how important South Korea need to win this war. They weren't sissy but forced themselves to be courageous to pick up a rifle, throw a grenade, use a knife to fight. Crying in the middle of the night and getting love sick of their interest over instruments, show the difficulty of being called into the war with entirely no experience. Training was done on the spot once enlisted.

So can anyone answer, after watching, why did the South Korean students continued to bomb the North Korean approaching commander when he actually returned a captured South Korean soldier? I guess the North Korean commander returned him was because he needed their help to use that area as a base for advance operation and movement therefore he smartly disguise his decision to return the South Korean student as he was just being a student and thought that the South Korean students can easily be fooled by simple gesture of allying. The main actor did well at the end but the initial, he portrays a coward which is really irritating because he looks like a loser with his actions. Many tensions between the officer of the students and one of the seemingly outstanding and experienced student with fighting. Tensions however were used in the right way in the end that brought good results for the South Koreans. However help came too late and the entire 71 students were wiped out including the officer. Really touching scenes there. Comments from others saying that some actions were too exaggerated. Well, yeah it is, like charging forward with a knife right up to the tank driver to kill him so that the North Korean tank will cease shooting. But its just a movie so.

A tip for watching this film is to not seat right behind but somewhere in the middle because the english sub titles are in white which totally camouflage most of the time with the images in the movie. Having to understand korean would be a great advantage.

The other guys (30/9/10)

This may seem false, but i'm serious, I almost slept for a couple of seconds. Maybe I was tired. Anyway, this is again not my kind of comedy. Only few scenes may me laugh alittle. It started with two heroic police officers that caught the robbery criminal but splashed a 12 million dollar damage, which includes ramming the car into a double decker and other stuns. But how heroic can they be when they chased a criminal up to the top of the building and when the criminal had planned ropes to slide to the next and snap it off to prevent them from chasing, they said to themselves let's aim at the bush and they jumped to their death. So is that funny? To me its not.

So Will Ferrel plays an irritating/weird/coward police officer that likes to sit behind the desk and not move out to respond to calls of emergency. But he has a hot wife and he attracts hot chicks around. Mark is really jealous with that.

Just a short comparison, I think Steve carell plays an idiot better than Will Ferrel.

Rating: 3/5. Will continue with the review another time.

Legend of The Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen (23/9/10)

The ending was hasty, the "get up and fight" style was repeating the IP2's style and the one on one fight was short. So when you watch it and you see Donnie fighting against groups or tons of people, that's the part you have to enjoy it, because the one on one fight, which I thought was supposed to be the best part was brief. By using the phrase "get up and fight", I meant the sudden motivation that the fighter receives or dream about within seconds when he is knocked out the first time, to give him the strength stronger than when he had full focus. If you have watched IP2, you would be familiar that when Donnie fights a one on one, he is expected to win, because this is just a movie. But in order for him to win victoriously, he has to go through some difficulty in the first stage of fighting before he gets up and fight again from his instant, seemingly divine motivation. So obviously that happen. I think directors that get him to do fighting films again should try to be more creative in this area.

However, what I write here, should not discourage you from watching the film, but its definitely worth a visit. Its a based on a true story of how he rescued his other chinese men from france back to China. And divinely ran into a series of firing shots at him being untouched, armed with only 3 knifes, when in to kill the shooters. Something interesting that repeated from IP man2, the head police was in charge of the chinese men, getting them to do the job and he called the chinese men "CHINKS". And later in the film, the chinese men fought back with his flowery words. This once again show the racism between Caucasians and Chinese which are real today.

Shuqi plays a supporting lead in this film. She acts as a singer, and Donnie's girlfriend and a traitor to the Chinese, working for the Japanese. She was killed in the end. 3.2/5.

Look who's at the piano.

The American (14/10/10) review

This film is perfect for both guys and girls to watch it together. Why, because girls will obviously be charmed by George Clooney and guys will simply enjoy the sexual scenes where the girl get to bare her breasts for the camera a couple of times. But just to warn you, this show is really slow moving right from the start to the end. And, not only its slow moving, there're even silent scenes, where George just do his own thing, like fix his gun or drive his car and as simple as that, I don't know why reviews, especially if its from a female writer would rate this film highly. Its totally opposite from what you expect when you watch it. So, seriously, the reviews are bluffing you by giving 3 or 3.5 or some can even give 4. OMG!! That's a way liar.

I'm sure you can't believe its a slow moving show because it involves crime investigation and gun firing. But it is. Something interesting that I can remember is when George likes a prostitute and he would bring her to the pond for a date, or rather picnic. The funny thing is, when she saw the pond, she just strip naked and get into the pool, calling him to join her. Anyway, george died in the end due to a gun shot on his abdomen. Another interesting scene to watch is when george was followed down a stairs alley and he quickly hid behind a pillar when he had the chance, took off his shoes and let his follower past him first before he gave chase at the follower. The setting takes place in Italy. And you can skip this film unless you're in for the girls.

Life as we know it review (14/10/10)

I think Katherine Heigl did quite a good job in this movie. She totally fits into the character of a working mum, not just any ordinary working mum but a mum who runs a business; in this case, a food business. Josh Duhamel is more of just being there to look good "father". So obviously you've read from else where that they started of as enemies. They were friends of the baby's parents. So their friends wanted to setup a date for them one day and Josh weren't so into it. When Katherine was dressed beautifully in a long red dress and Josh rode his bike over and wanted her to get on the bike. She told him she wasn't dress for taking bikes and decided to use her car instead. Her car was pathetic, like a cherry QQ and when she found out Josh didn't book a restaurant or a place. And in the car, he received a call. Josh said its fine and told Katherine to carry on, but Katherine was so distracted by the ring tone that she couldn't carry on. This part is quite funny. And when Josh picked up, he was talking to the other girls that often hang out with him. Katherine was kinda turned off by that and decided to call off the date.

So when their friends past away, they were shocked to learn from the lawyer that it was written in the will to pass their baby to the hands of Katherine and Josh to parent. Obviously they were shock. These parts are quite funny. They did good expressions.

So the rest of the movie was about how they made schedules to take care of the baby and Josh went about his girls thingy and she went about going dates with a guy she liked. But when they had to take care of the baby together, Josh simply keep trying to run away from the job, like making her change the diapers and not letting her know that there's shit on her face while she went to meet the house guest. Katherine get back on him by using his cap for the baby to shit. They had a good big argument when Katherine decided to sell the house and Josh wasn't told about it. Because Josh and Katherine were given this house by their deceased friends. Josh wasn't told because he was so upset that he went away for awhile. He was offered a job else where which he couldn't resist, a high profile job. Somehow, Katherine and Josh decided to take responsibility over the baby again and Josh decided not to take the job offer.

3.5/5. More for pregnant ladies, or ladies with infant or parents who just wanna reminiscence the good old baby rising days. The movie might be alittle lengthy due to the dating scenes between Josh and Katherine and Katherine and the other guy she likes. Not my kind of comedy. But I think the acting and chemistry between them is really good. In comparison to the other currently showing comedies like Dinner for Schmucks and The Other guy. In my opinion, Dinner for Schmucks tops the other two.

Nowhere boy (22/9/10)

Sorry, but you can also skip this film. Haha.. But you don't have to depend on my reviews, really.
I would rate 2/5. Its not that its bad, or lousy or not worth watching. But I think there could be more creativity to bring out alittle more detail on how else John Lennon felt about being a nowhere boy. Its a british film.

Just a brief intro, this film, is basically about John Lennon, who is a nowhere boy because he has been living with his aunt who is his guardian since young. But his mum, who lives not far away has now married to someone else and has a family already. But his mum still loves him alot and she was the one who taught him how to play the guitar. His mum would express her to him almost like her lover, leaving the kisses out that's all. When he argued with his aunt over school problems issue, he would run to his mum's place and request to stay for a night or two. However, his mum's husband wasn't too happy with this. Both his aunt and mum supported him in his music interest like attended his performance with his band. His band was form by his group of friends whom each could play an instrument. The touching part happens almost towards the end where his aunt and mum met and reveal to him how he was brought up by his aunt and not by his own parents. That part was really nice.

The Switch (30/9/10)

You can give this film a miss if you want. Really. Its like a 'not necessary I need to watch' kind of film? Yeah.. So rating if you must, is 3/5. Jennifer Aniston's recent film have all been quite normal. Maybe because producers think that she's hot, or she the number most eligible female in the world, so if she my cast, I don't need to demand alot from her and let her do her thing. Well, I don't know, that's what I get from her films she stars in. For example, the other recent one is Love Happens and Management. Yes, she's natural with her acting and she's good. But its always the same kind of just normal movies that she gets to be in. I wish she would break out into blockbusters or do some action, like fighting, have we seen her fight? That's what I mean.

Alright, about the movie, just put it straight, its about switching cum. Yes. I said it. Its the pool of ejaculated sperm that a guy produces after he masturbates. Patrick Wilson, who acts as the donor of sperm to Jennifer, to let her have a kid, unfortunately had it switched by her best friend, Jason Bateman, to his own sperm. And he did that unconsciously, because he was drunk after a party. He didn't realize it till many years later when Jennifer moves back to New york and get her son to meet Jason and they realized how similar they are and how much they could click. When Jason recalled and try to admit to Jennifer about what he did, Jennifer thought he wanted to tell her that he loves her and when he said no, that's not what I wanted to say, she got so freaked out and embarrass and decided not to talk. If all American girls are like that, how on earth can anyone talk to you girls. Seriously, American girls, don't be so weird by reacting like that. Jennifer wanted to try and start and relationship with the father of her kid and see if it would work out. Jason had no choice but to break the news about the switch at Patrick's proposal day to Jennifer. How awesome that blew was. Seriously. It was weird, but funny and touching. That's what mix feelings are about. In the end, Jennifer got back together with Jason, because she misses him so much.

Wall Street: Money never sleeps (23/9/10)

Would be better if you're from the finance or banking industry to watch this film. I'm writing this from a point of view where I know nuts about brokering or investment. So what, if there was a previous sequel? I'm not gona compare with the previous one. Michael Douglas is selected as a cast, mainly to just look good and a stereotype of an experience and wealthy man with full of insight in investments. Making comparison to a movie of a similar interest, Capitalism, a love story, which I watched last year, gave me a better understanding of the industry that better than this. This film, Wall street, by foxmovies, of course, would and have to produce a higher standard film that covers all aspects of emotions. From the title, you wouldn't expect love scenes, or father-daughter relationship problems, but those are the parts that brings the viewer closer to the movie in practical terms. Capitalism had more content but Wall street is rather balance.

Watch to see how Michael Douglas, cheated his daughter and her boyfriend of 10 million dollars. He seems really trustworthy, insightful from the start but that was not his motive. Once he got the money, he disappeared and set up his own company to be back in Wall street investments. You'll see a really old man, whom I wonder if he knows what he's talking, is actually giving the advice over decision making issues and he will be remembered for his bird-like whistling, especially towards the end.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone who know nuts about investment, banking or brokerage. 2.5/5 rating in my opinion. Not that its lousy, but it's boring. On the other hand, its rather intellectual.

If anyone doesn't know it yet, Michael Douglas is now battling critical stage cancer. I wish him speedy recovery. Would love him back in future films. Have anyone thought about doing such banking/finance films that includes things like man having affair with another lady to get her money or promotion or higher investment payback. I mean these are practical in the real world so why not spill it out. Maybe an R21 wall street film in future.

Reign of Assassins (7/10/10) review

Typical chinese movie plot. Lots of mystery, history and reasoning to be unfold in this film. About Michelle Yeoh's fighting, she's not bad. Pretty good for a lady, in terms of sword fighting. However she's not the only want that impresses. The five characters that you see in this poster, are impressive in their own ways. And personally, I think Shawn Yue's fighting which only lasted for a really short while is the most impressive. He acts as a blur loser simply trying to chase Michelle Yeoh as his wife but he knows all about who Michelle Yeoh is fighting with or being hunted by. He is aware of everything. Let's talk straight about the rating: 3/5. Why: It's alittle draggy over certain parts, especially the complicated history in the beginning and this film, lack just by alittle in the emotional aspect. If you're into chinese films, this and detective dee are both worth a visit. If you have to choose either detective dee or this, I would prefer detective dee. Andy Lau's charm do really impress in that film.

One scene might shock you: Michelle yeoh, stabbing into her lover's chest, Shawn Yue, with a sword right through. But according to the storyline, it was for their own good. His heart is on the right, she stabbed on the left to make him look like his dead before he got attacked by anyone.

One scene might interest you: Barbie Hsu, stripping for the camera to display her back and another scene clothe in a seductive way, lying on the bed to attract Shawn Yue. But Shawn Yue was smart, he took away all her clothes and announced to the village that there is a crazy woman in his room.

The girl who played with fire (16/9/10) review

I like the movie, but I wouldn't recommended it.. If you're hoping for the same standard as the previous sequel, then I'm sorry its not. My rating is 3/5 But If you wanna know she she still shows her boobs, the answer is yes and u get to see 2 pairs of them. Because don't forget, she is a bi, and this time is making out with a lady.

This squeal is slightly less intimidating than The girl with a dragon tattoo and Naomi rapace has slightly has work to do that Blomquist her helper in the last squeal. Blomquist this time has form a team of private investigation to work on criminal activities. Remember the last squeal where Naomi burned the father? The truth is the father is still not dead yet. He survived the burn but got his face disfigured and had plastic surgery done. Now is living with his son (half brother of Naomi), who is a strong tall man with a slight disability to his nervous system that he is not able to sense physical hit from people. Naomi does not know that she has this brother. The father is now out to hunt back for Naomi and kill her for revenge. By the way Naomi burned her dad in the past was because, she couldn't take the abuse that her dad did to her mum. So he used his son to hunt for her and in the process killing some of the people around her, like her rapist (guardian), from the previous squeal, to get her attention. He is the guy named Zala that Blomquist and his group of investigators soon found out.

Blomquist got his friend, a boxer to try and get information from Naomi's friend whom is living now living in Naomi's apartment. While on the visit, he saw Naomi's friend being carried away into a car by the strong man and decided to give chase. He followed, the strong man in a car to a warehouse and heard the man, beating Naomi's friend to get an answer where Naomi is. He rushed in to fight with the strong man but unfortunately lost. The strong man then decided to burn the warehouse down. The two victims who were still left in the warehouse fortunately escape by the back door. That was really lucky. It didn't seem like what it is then. Looks like a nice magic trick. So, they while they were in hospital, Naomi visited her friend to apologize. She unfortunately dropped her house keys and Blomquist who went to the hospital the next day, found it. He went to her apartment while Naomi was on the way to find her dad and kill him. Naomi was shocked but trusted him and remove the alarm. She has a connection to her phone when anyone trys to break in to her house. So, he saw the recording of how she was tortured in a rape by her guardian. SO of course he was sadden and decided to help her out He found out the place where Zala stays and decided to head there too.

When Naomi got to her dad's apartment, she was knocked out by the strong man, but of course her dad ordered not to be killed immediately and wanted to have a chat with her first to 'catch up'. In the end, a fight broke up and she was shot while trying to get away. At this point, you may think that its over for her. To make things worst, she was buried alive. But she was not buried properly and she was obviously not shot dead yet, so she climbed out of the soil and give her father a whack on the head a few times to kill him. When Blomquist arrived, he simply call the cops and ambulance here.
